Fishing at the end of the season
Autumn trading hours
As the days shorten, we are
cutting an hour from our open hours. We are knocking off at 4pm, but online we are still 24 hours a day.
If you want instore service and can't make it - just call and make an appointment. We live just a few minutes away and as long as it is not some silly hour we are happy to open up for you.
Season end fishing
Most brown trout designated waters close 28th April, but rainbow waters and some rivers stay open longer.
The weather last week was good for a stroll out in the Western Lakes. Blue skies and light winds were perfect and the fish are still around. Mike took the day off and found quite a few fish, but only fooled three. This is still a good result - and when they are like the fish above - who could complain?
His rod of choice was a GLoomis Asquith 9' 4wt and
whilst he would have loved to take this fish on a dry - it was a small brown woolly worm that was needed.
Other waters still fishing very well include Bronte Lagoon, Pine Tier, Lake Echo, Dee Lagoon - and Little Pine has had some fantastic tailing trout hard on the shore in just a few centimetres of water. If you get a chance it may be worth a look at Sorell, Crescent and maybe some brookies in Clarence or Plimsoll.
